Pennsylvania has recently made some changes to the drunk driving law and they will be in effect in 2019. Here is a summary.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs will now be a felony for the fourth offense or a felony for a third offense within 10 years if the person had a blood alcohol of .16% or higher.
There will be a new minimum mandatory prison sentence of five years for any repeat DUI defendant who has caused a driving under the influence related homicide by vehicle and the penalty increases to seven years in prison for a person who has two or more drunk driving offenses.
There will be an increase in fines for people who are caught for drunk driving while they have a suspended license or a prior driving under the influence.
